Greetings! I'm new to GBC and have only recently become aware of them through YouTube.

I have a Lego collection from primarily the 1990s and early 2000s and it includes a Lego Mindstorms 1.5 set with a non-remote RCX brick. My RCX brick is not functioning because a battery seems to have leaked and damaged the battery contact point during its long time spent in my closet. I've placed an order for a Power Functions Motor set so I can get started building a GBC but I am wondering if I can get any more use of the Mindstorms motors that still might work. Are the power connections compatible between these sets? Is it safe to use the Mindstorms 1.5 kit motors powered by the Power Functions kit battery?

The two systems are not directly compatible, but the Power Functions extension wire (either of the two lengths) can be used to interface the two systems.

Be aware also that the new motors are somewhat more powerful than the older ones, so your drivetrains will have different requirements to satisfy.

Good luck!
