A flood can be caused either by too many balls coming into a module, or by the module delivering too few balls to its neighbour (whether because some failure stops the flow of balls altogether, or simply because the module runs too slowly).
Examples of Use
Dave dumped a cupful of balls into a particularly fast module, which flooded the downstream module.
Related and Alternate Terms
- A clot could be considered a special case of a flood - a module that can handle one ball at a time just fine fails when presented with two balls.
