From The Great Ball Contraption Wiki

A Flood occurs when a module tries to hold more balls than it can handle. Floods usually result in leaks, but can also cause binds. A module that floods with fewer than 30 balls is non-standard.

A flood can be caused either by too many balls coming into a module, or by the module delivering too few balls to its neighbour (whether because some failure stops the flow of balls altogether, or simply because the module runs too slowly).

Examples of Use[edit]

Dave dumped a cupful of balls into a particularly fast module, which flooded the downstream module.

Related and Alternate Terms[edit]

  • A clot could be considered a special case of a flood - a module that can handle one ball at a time just fine fails when presented with two balls.
