A clot is a situation where balls fail to move downstream because they are stuck against each other. Frequently occurs when the flow goes from a wider to a narrower area (such as in a funnel), around a bend, or down a shallow slope. Prevention of clots is a key issue that must be addressed with in baskets, because many lift mechanisms require a narrower feed than the 8-stud width of the standard in basket.
